James Eide, 1922-Present


Born in 1922, James Eide attained the rank of Staff Sergeant during his World War II military service. Deployed to New Guinea and the Philippines, Eide received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, the Philippine Liberatin Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the Air Medal with three Oak Leave Clusters.

His collection includes military promotion and transfer orders listing the serial numbers of assigned aircraft, copy of a letter from General Douglas MacArthur regarding the treatment of Japanese prisoners, and numerous aerial reconnaissance photos of New Guinea and areas of Dutch East Indies.
